multiple-image graphics

It's worth keeping in mind that a number of image file formats, such as GIF and TIFF, can be used to store multiple images in a single file. A minority of image viewers and paint applications recognize them as such, however. If you open a multiple-image file in a conventional paint application, for example, you'll only see the first image, usually with no indication that there's anything else in the file.

This facility can be used to create image files which appear to be innocuous. The author of such a file can store an inoffensive picture as the first image, and something he wishes to conceal as the second. Most software will never display the hidden picture.

Graphic Workshop Professional will alert you if you attempt to view or process an image file with multiple graphics stored in it. Specifically, it will display a dialog with a list of thumbnails for all the pictures in the file you've asked it to open, allowing you to select the one you're interested in.

You can extract selected images from a multiple-image file to multiple single-image files by converting them to a single-image format, such as PNG or JPG, or by viewing selected images and using the Save As function of the Picture menu in View mode.
